Terence Patrick Donovan was a British-Australian actor of stage, television and film whose career spanned more than five decades. Born in London in 1935, he came to Australia with his parents at age 14. Before his acting career took off, he worked as a truck driver and house painter.

Donovan's first professional acting job was in the 1960 production of West Side Story. He became widely known for his roles in Australian police dramas Division 4 and Cop Shop, as well as soap operas Home and Away and Neighbours. His film roles included Money Movers, Breaker Morant and The Man from Snowy River. He also had guest roles in numerous series including Prisoner, Sons and Daughters, A Country Practice and E Street.

He was the father of actor and singer Jason Donovan, whom he raised as a single parent after separating from Jason's mother, actress Sue McIntosh. Donovan continued acting throughout his later years, reprising his Neighbours role for the show's anniversary specials and making a cameo appearance in the series finale in 2022 alongside his son and granddaughter.
