Brandon Clarke was born on September 19, 1996, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to a Canadian mother and Jamaican father, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, as a child. He excelled at Desert Vista High School before playing college basketball for San Jose State and later Gonzaga, where he earned multiple conference honors and set NCAA tournament records.

Clarke entered the NBA as the 21st overall pick in the 2019 draft, immediately joining the Memphis Grizzlies after a trade. He quickly made an impact, earning Summer League MVP honors and being selected to the 2020 All‑Rookie First Team. Over his career, he was known for his athleticism, defensive versatility, and contributions to the Grizzlies' playoff runs.

On May 11, 2026, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that Clarke had died at the age of 29. His teammates and the broader basketball community mourned the loss, remembering him as an outstanding teammate and a positive influence both on and off the court.
