Antônio de Lisboa Paduano Pereira, known locally as Paduano, was a long‑standing figure in the politics of Divinópolis, Minas Gerais. He began his political career in 1970 when he was first elected as a vereador (city councilor) and went on to serve ten consecutive terms, a record of longevity in the municipal legislature. During his tenure he also held the position of president of the Câmara Municipal, where he was noted for advocating the interests of the Santo Antônio dos Campos (Ermida) district and the rural communities surrounding Divinópolis.
His public service was recognized with honors such as the Medalha Candidés and the title of Orgulho Divinopolitano, reflecting his contributions to local development and civic life. After retiring from active politics, Paduano remained a respected elder statesman in the community until his death at the age of 91.
Paduano's death in August 2026 prompted official mourning from both the municipal chamber and the city hall, which declared three days of official lament and lowered flags to half‑mast in his honor.
