Particulars

Antonio Lorusso Petruzzi, affectionately called Tony, was born in the late 1930s and spent his early career in the fashion industry before turning to hospitality and cultural promotion on the island of Capri. In 1995 he co‑founded the Istituto Capri nel Mondo, a non‑profit organization dedicated to promoting Capri’s cultural heritage abroad.

For three decades he worked closely with director Lina Wertmüller and festival founder Pascal Vicedomini, helping to establish and grow the Capri Hollywood – International Film Festival into a respected event that attracted international filmmakers and stars. His efforts earned him recognition for building a cultural bridge between Italy and Hollywood, including involvement in Oscar‑related ceremonies for Italian artists.

Petruzzi remained active in the institute’s activities until shortly before his death, appearing publicly at events such as the 2026 celebration of the institute’s 30th anniversary in Rome. He died on 16 August 2026 in Naples at the age of 87.
