Borja Ferrer Solavera was a Spanish professional footballer who operated as a central midfielder. He began his career in the youth ranks of Xerez CD and broke into the first team in the 2000‑2001 season, remaining there until 2004. During that period he spent time on loan with Real Madrid Castilla, where he featured for the reserve side of the famous club, as well as stints at Ponferradina and later Rayo Vallecano.
Ferrer also played for lower‑division sides Castelldefels and CD Alcalá before retiring from professional football. He was part of the Xerez squad that achieved promotion to the Segunda División in 2002 and made a total of 23 league appearances for the club, scoring a memorable performance against Atlético de Madrid under coach Bernd Schuster.
In the summer of 2024 Ferrer underwent brain surgery and subsequently battled a serious illness. He passed away at the age of 44 in Jerez de la Frontera in July 2026, prompting tributes from his former clubs and the local football community.
