Dominique Frot was born on 23 August 1957 in Rochefort, Charente-Maritime, France. She was the younger sister of renowned actress Catherine Frot. After studying at the Conservatoire National d'Art Dramatique de Paris and the École Normale Supérieure de Musique de Paris, she began her career in theatre before expanding into film and television.

Throughout her career, Frot appeared in numerous films, often in supporting roles. She worked with distinguished directors including Claude Miller in Mortelle randonnée (1983), Gérard Oury in La vengeance du serpent à plume, Cédric Klapisch in Peut-être, and Julia Ducournau in Titane (2021), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. Her television work included a recurring role as Solange Vergneaux, the high-school principal, in the popular French series Soda.

Dominique Frot died on 7 August 2026 at Hôpital Tenon in Paris at the age of 68, following an illness. She had recently completed work on Guillaume Canet's film Karma, scheduled for release in October 2026.
