João Garcia was a Brazilian journalist and radio broadcaster from Arroio Grande, in the south of Rio Grande do Sul, who built a career spanning more than five decades in regional communication. He became one of the best-known voices in gaúcho sports journalism, recognized by colleagues and listeners for his professional dedication.
During the 1970s and 1980s he worked at Grupo RBS, where he served as commentator, reporter, and presenter, covering sports-related topics. Over the course of his career he moved through various outlets and also served as president of the Associação dos Cronistas Esportivos Gaúchos (Aceg), the association of sports journalists in the state.
His work earned him a prominent place in Rio Grande do Sul's sports journalism, making him a reference for professionals in the field. He died in Porto Alegre at the age of 77, leaving behind his wife, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
