José Porto Andrade was a Brazilian politician who served as mayor of Pontalina, a municipality in the state of Goiás. He held public office in the small city located in southern Goiás, which has a population of approximately 19,000 inhabitants.

On July 21, 2026, Andrade was shot multiple times in front of his home in Pontalina. The attack was captured on surveillance cameras showing a man arriving on a motorcycle and firing at him. He was initially treated at a local emergency unit before being transferred to Itumbiara for further medical care.

Andrade died from his injuries on August 6, 2026, at the age of 88, fifteen days after the attack. The Pontalina city government confirmed his death and declared three days of official mourning in the municipality. The Civil Police of Pontalina opened an investigation into the homicide, which remained under seal pending conclusion.
