Juan Lebrón Sánchez was born in Antequera, Málaga, and began his career in photography while living in London in 1973. He later worked as a camera operator for Televisión Española (TVE) between 1975 and 1980, contributing to the nature documentary series 'El Hombre y la Tierra' directed by Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente.
In the following decades he became a prominent producer and filmmaker focused on Andalusian culture. He produced reference documentary works such as 'Flamenco', 'Sevillanas' and the 1992 film 'Semana Santa', which gathered four centuries of the Sevillian Holy Week tradition. His projects were praised for preserving and promoting regional heritage on the big screen.
His final project, 'Andalucía Monumental', was a series of eight 25‑minute episodes highlighting the monumental heritage of each Andalusian province. Lebrón Sánchez died on 3 August 2026 at the age of 73, leaving a legacy of culturally significant documentary cinema.
