Lucas was a Brazilian sertanejo singer who, with his brother Matheus, formed the duo Lucas & Matheus. The pair launched professionally in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, before moving to Lisbon in 1993 under the management of António Lopes. Their debut album Palavras Ao Vento followed in 1994, and the single "Paciência" became their biggest hit.
The duo enjoyed sustained success in Portugal, releasing dozens of original albums and compilations and earning ten gold, five silver, and three platinum records there. They also performed for Portuguese emigrant communities across Europe. Their song "Porque Homem Não Chora" accumulated more than 13 million views online.
After Matheus died of COVID-19 in December 2020, Lucas continued performing with Matheus Jr., the son of his former partner. Lucas remained active in music until his death, which occurred from a heart attack at his apartment in Portugal in August 2026.
