Particulars

Lúcia Daltro Viveiros was a Brazilian civil engineer, architect, and politician from Belém, Pará. She graduated in civil engineering from the Federal University of Pará in 1958 and in architecture in 1966, and later served as a university professor. She also worked as a broadcaster, presenting women's programs on radio and television in Pará for decades.

Entering politics through the MDB, she was elected federal deputy for Pará in 1978, succeeding her husband Júlio Viveiros, and was re-elected in 1982 under the PDS. She made history as the first woman elected to the board of directors of the Chamber of Deputies and as the first woman to preside over a session of the House, as well as the first to appear in the plenary wearing trousers.

A longtime advocate for women's rights, in 1975 she founded and presided over the Legião da Mulher Paraense, an entity providing legal and social assistance. She also served two terms in the Legislative Assembly of Pará between 1979 and 1987 and voted in favor of the Dante de Oliveira amendment in 1984.
