Manuel Mongini (1949–2026) was an Italian naturalist, ornithologist and respected nature writer from the Piedmont region. He authored several books on wildlife, including the popular work "The World of Animals," and contributed to scientific publications and educational programs. Mongini was a frequent collaborator with the Italian Ornithological Society and worked closely with the Centro Italiano Studi Ornitologici. He was known for his field work, public lectures, and media appearances promoting bird conservation. He lived in Soriso, near Novara, with his wife Elisa, and was active in local environmental initiatives until his death.

Mongini died on 30 July 2026 at the age of 74 after being stung by a hornet while working in his garden.
