Marcelo Diniz Martins was a Brazilian poet, lyricist, and academic born and raised in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. He earned a degree in Portuguese and Literature from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and went on to complete a master's and doctorate in Letters and the Science of Literature. He taught at academic institutions, including the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), which mourned his passing in official statements.
