Nanak Ram Bhurji, born around 1958 in Uttar Pradesh, India, entered politics as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He rose through the party ranks and was appointed as a minister in the Uttar Pradesh state government, where he handled various portfolios during his tenure. Bhurji also served as an office‑bearer of the BJP's OBC (Other Backward Classes) Morcha, representing the interests of OBC communities within the party.

Throughout his career, Bhurji was known for his work on regional development projects and his advocacy for social welfare schemes aimed at marginalized groups. On 27 July 2026, Bhurji, then 68, died after falling from the seventh floor of the MLA residence complex in Lucknow. The circumstances of the fall were under investigation, with police probing whether it was accidental or related to his reported long‑term depression. His death prompted condolences from party colleagues and local leaders.
