Niketu Iralu was a prominent Naga peace activist from Sechü Zubza in Nagaland's Kohima district who devoted more than 65 years to building trust across political and ethnic divisions in Northeast India. He was closely associated with Initiatives of Change (formerly Moral Re-Armament), focusing on personal transformation and dialogue as tools for reconciliation.
Iralu served as a trustee of the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research and was a member of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), where he worked to bridge divides among Naga political groups. His commitment to peace was widely recognized, earning him the Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award (2011), the Bhupen Hazarika Integration Award (2023), and the IofC Lifetime Achiever Award (2025).
His death at age 91 drew tributes from Nagaland's deputy chief ministers and members of parliament, who hailed him as a towering figure whose wisdom and dedication to reconciliation left a lasting mark on the region's history.
