Ricardo Spencer was a Brazilian director and filmmaker who built a distinguished career in television and music video production. Born in Bahia, he was the grandson of actress and director Nilda Spencer, a major figure in Bahian theater, and grew up surrounded by the arts.

Spencer specialized in cinema aesthetics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the United States. He first gained prominence directing music videos for prominent Brazilian and international artists including Pitty, Rita Lee, Criolo, Sandy, Emicida, Johnny Hooker, Liniker, Cachorro Grande, Vanguart, Aurora, and Sebadoh. His music video work earned him awards from MTV and Multishow.

For the last ten years of his career, Spencer was part of TV Globo's directing team, where he directed several notable series including Mister Brau, Shippados, and Segunda Chamada. His work on Segunda Chamada received an APCA prize and an Emmy nomination. At the time of his death, he had recently moved from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo to begin filming a new series for a streaming platform. He died at age 49 in the Copan building in São Paulo.
