Robin Courtenay Whiteside (born 1931, died 2026) was a former Royal Navy officer who served as an executive officer on the British submarine Dreadnought. In March 1971 he helped the Dreadnought become the first submarine to surface through the Arctic ice at the North Pole. After his naval career he worked as a technical consultant on several James Bond films, including The Spy Who Loved Me. He also competed in motor racing events such as the 1978 London-Monte Carlo rally, finishing second. He retired from the Royal Navy in 1977 and later served as a senior technical officer for the Royal Navy's Submarine Escape and Rescue Division, overseeing the development of submarine escape procedures. He died at the age of 90 in Durley, Hampshire, England.
