Particulars

Yoav Shriker was a soldier in the Yahalom Combat Engineers unit of the Israel Defense Forces who gained recognition for his extraordinary feats of endurance. He set Israeli records by running a half marathon while carrying 35 kilograms and a full marathon with 32 kilograms. His dedication to physical challenges extended beyond running; he also trained by towing cars, performing CrossFit workouts, running with weighted vests in the sea, and swimming in ice water. Even while battling cancer for over two years, Shriker continued to push physical limits, including going for a 60-kilometer run shortly after radiation sessions. Beyond his athletic pursuits, he collaborated with the University of Hong Kong on research to improve mouth cancer detection, using his own body to study the effects of lifestyle changes on disease. Shriker was also committed to community service, volunteering with children and mentoring in the Scouts. His friends described him as someone who, despite his illness, aimed to help future cancer patients through his research and had many ambitious plans for his future, including projects for the company he founded.
