Yuji Ono was a renowned Japanese composer and jazz pianist whose career spanned decades of influential work in film, television, and animation. He became best known for composing the iconic theme music and scores for the Lupin III anime franchise, which achieved international recognition and remains beloved by fans worldwide.

Beyond animation, Ono composed memorable scores for numerous Japanese films including The Inugami Family and Human Proof, establishing himself as one of Japan's most respected film composers. Ono died in May 2026 at the age of 84 from old age. A memorial service was held in September 2026 at Billboard Live Tokyo, where fans and fellow musicians gathered to celebrate his life and musical legacy.
